Fresh Sounds
The title seems self explanatory.
J.Cole is without a doubt one of my favorite artists out right now. His music is undeniable. Its real. Unlike most rappers in the industry now he actually has a message within his songs. Everybody knew J.Cole was going to be a big deal when we got a sneak peak of his skills on Jay-Z's "A Star Is Born". Jay-Z saw his potential and signed him to Roc Nation, making him the first artist signed to that label. Like most artists J.Cole was looking to get signed at a young age. To achieve this dream he moved to New York where he enrolled in school at St.John's University. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned and he ended up finishing all four years of college, graduating magna cum laude. In 2009 J.Cole released his mixtape The Warm Up, which I absolutely love.The Warm Up definitely consists of music that you can listen to all the way through without skipping a song. He just recently released a single-"Who Dat".
I first remember hearing about Shwayze when he had his own show on MTV-it was quite interesting to say the least. He was just getting his feet wet in the music industry and they were experiencing a little success from their song "Buzzin".Shwayze, Aaron Smith, and his wingman, Cisco Adler, became an instant duo in 2008. Since then these California bums released a mixtape entitled "Rich Girls" and are in the process of working on their second mixtape "Super California Lipstick Sexy Magic Dope Shit". My favorite song by Shwayze is without a doubt "Rich Girls".[Check it out in ipod post].

Keep Your Ears Open
Its not difficult to find yourself getting tired of mainstream music,especially when radio stations and night clubs keep the same songs in rotation.Hearing fresh new music is exhilarating!There are so many artists who are trying to make it but have yet to scratch the surface.My goal is to open my ears to new music as well and give these aspiring artists a little bit more exposure through my blog.
Young Sensation,better known as Chad Ware,has hit me up about his music numerous times before and when I took the time to listen to his latest mixtape I was impressed with a few tracks.[My favorite track is "Make It" ft Deus].His mixtape "Da Wake Up Call Volume 1" features songs that are relatable and as he describes it "music from the heart".While still trying to break through into the music industry Chad, like many other aspiring artists, has realized that their are a lot of "snakes in the grass" but still taking into account that their are also people who are always willing to help.He credits his family, friends, and his surroundings for inspiration musically.Take a listen to Young Sensations mixtape.
Before I even started my blog Ryan Barhaloo hit me up and sent me his latest song and my ears fell in love!Ryan definitely has a unique sound which I admire.
Ive known this kid since he was in middle school and its neat to see how he has matured over the years and his music illustrates that. Dante, who goes by YoungMac, has already recorded a mixtape entitled "Dey Know". His mixtape will be available on datpiff.com soon. Listen to snippets of "Next Level" && "Dreams". Everything he records is a "reflection of where he stands". Every song he makes tells an experience either he or someone hes met has had. Dante's favorite track on his mixtape is "Everything" which is a "testimony of his life up to this point". He strives on staying true and "giving the world 100% of who he is in the booth". What impresses me the most about Dante is his confidence, which seems like an essential characteristic to have and hes got it. "Being true to yourself is a value that you can't put a price on, a value that can never be matched or discounted. My value comes in the light of this music and I can promise you theres not a moment I will ever disappoint!".
